Italian artist and jewellery designer Giorgio Vigna began designing glass birds for the Finnish Iittala in 2007. Each Vigna bird is individually handcrafted by master glassblowers at Iittala's renowned glassworks in Finland.
The Circoli Birds are made from layers of hot glass formed using a mould and then cut, grinded and polished by hand. The exterior is a deep, rich single colour, while the interior is an interweaving of opaque and transparent glass leading to a surprising detail at the cut ends of the beak and tail. The large size is available in red and black.
